More and more kids are in the practice room lately. I am very happy about that. Remember practice times are the same. Tuesday 4:00 MMHS, Wed 5:00 SHS, and Thursday 6:00 MMHS.

For those interested in grappling skills training, call coach Hatfield at 801-623-9869 for private and group lessons. May 7-9 Utah is hosting a grappling festival in Heber for Novice and above ages along side the West Jr. Regional and Veterans Nationals.

I also appreciate all the pairing and officials help from our club. Our mat ran great thanks to you all.

This week there are two tournaments going on. I will be at Box Elder and even though it is an extra hour drive, we are going to support them as a club. I know many of you are planning on going to Mt. Top Classic too. That is fine with me. I just request that each of you email me after you register and tell me who is going to which so I can make sure there are coaches at Mt. Top too.

All three styles are at Box Elder and Mt. Top is only offering two. Also, please let me know if you are able to help run our club table at either tournament.

I would like some feedback from the fly and bantam wrestlers in the club if there is a desire to hold a smaller group separate practice.

I am POSTPONING the team party because we can not be ready by Tuesday. I am sorry to any who have made plans for Tuesday and cancelled other things. Please do not show up for a team party Tuesday night. I’ll let you all know when.

Fifth Graders and below have practice this week at 4:30-6:00 on Monday and Wednesday for their state tournament in AF this weekend. Also Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30. Weigh ins are Thursday night during practice.

Older kids who still want to train are welcome to those practices.

PS: Trey is fine now. Concussion only. Daniel Johnson broke his arm but is in good spirits. Tough kids through and through!

We are hosting an elementary state tournament on Friday and Saturday, February 5-6 @ American Fork High School. It will be for grades Pre-K-5th. Here is a link to the flier to provide details.

Please let us know if you would like to host a weigh-in in your area.

The sessions will start at the times listed and complete within the two hours planned.

IE: Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade will start at 5:00 PM and we will complete all weights for these grades on by 7:00 PM.

If you want to purchase Iowa vs UVU wrestling tickets for the match in Vernal Saturday, February 6, you will need to contact Lisha Hacking at 435-781-3110 ext. 2611.

The tickets are $10. It is Iowa’s home meet so there are not free passes for UVU season ticket holders.

Iowa is ranked #1 in the country again this year after winning the past two NCAA Championships. They are competing at Uintah High School to give hometown fans an opportunity to watch their own 2x All-American Phillip Keddy in action.

First congratulations, on last weekend. We won the overall tournament, won first place in the 15 and under and won first place in the 12 and under division. That was wonderful. Thanks to all the families who supported this.
